What is the right age for dental implants?
Two extreme cases:

Dental implants can be fitted at any age. The following cases are two extreme examples.

I° case:
Implantology at age 15.

The female patient shown in the photo presented the following situation: affected by agenesis of the two upper lateral incisive teeth, she underwent ortodontic treatment in order to create suitable space to accomodate the two missing teeth.

Situation 18 months later:
once created the necessary space through ortodontic treatment, while continuing the contention phase with fixed apparatus, as shown in the ortopanoramic x-ray image, two implants were inserted when the girl patient was aged 15 and six months.

At left: detail of one of two implants inserted. In the following surgery session, the contention is removed, two cast pivots in gold are cemented on the implants (photo right below) and the two provisional teeth.

Three months later: provisional teeth replaced by two ceramic crowns on zirconium (metal free) in the photo below.

II° case:
Implantology at age 95.

The ortopanoramic X-ray examination shown in image 1 belongs to a 95-years-old lady that thirty-eight years ago,had the lower arcade rehabilitated with a front bridge prosthesis on natural pillar teeth and a blade implant. Following the wearing out of the prosthesis and the
pillar teeth of the front bridge [see image 2], the patient refused the mobile prosthesis proposed by another dental surgery.

The patient came in our surgery requesting the rehabilitation of the lower arcade with a fixed prosthesis. By applyng three implants [ image 4 ] and utilizing the still valid implant pillar inserted 38 years earlier [ a Linkow blade, see image 3] it was possible to rehabilitate the lower dental arcade with provisional teeth[image 5] in one surgery session.
